You will want to make sure that you are able to go into great detail about the accident. This will include what you were doing right before the accident, what happened to cause the accident, how you were injured, and who came to help you. Your lawyer will also need to know if any accident reports were filled out or if you were asked to sign any other paperwork.

If You Have Received Additional Injuries

You might have already been suffering from an injury that you received outside of work. For example, you might have pulled your back muscles when trying to move a couch at home. Your employer might know about this. You could have also found that you ended up with additional injuries after the accident at work. For example, you might have been riding as a passenger in a vehicle that was rear-ended and you ended up with whiplash. Your employer might have heard about this as well. Your lawyer will need to know the details of such injuries so they can prepare your case. You do not want your employer to try to deny you your benefits because they claim that your injuries are from something else. If you were injured in any way at work and it was that injury that caused you to be out of work, you should be entitled to workers' comp.

Make sure that you are gathering up all of the information that was previously mentioned here. Then, you will want to give your lawyer a call, provide him or her with all of that information, and then ask if there is anything else they need. They might suddenly have new information that they seek based on the information you provided them. Try to get everything called in or faxed over to their office as soon as you can, as this should help speed along the process. The sooner you are able to begin to receive the financial benefit that comes from the workers' compensation claim, the sooner you will be able to get your personal affairs back in order.
